Your complete chart — Type, Strategy, Authority, all nine centers, every channel and gate, and your Profile — calculated from your birth details and yours to keep. It costs nothing and takes about a minute.
No card required • Birth date, time and place • About a minute
Your chart — the bodygraph — maps where the planets sat at the moment you were born onto nine centers. It gives you your Type: Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector or Reflector. Type describes how your energy is built to meet the world, and each one carries a Strategy for doing that against less resistance. It gives you your Authority, which is the way your body signals yes or no before your mind argues about it.
The nine centers are each defined or open. Defined centers are consistent — they work the same way whoever you are with. Open centers take in and amplify whatever is around them. The channels running between centers, and the gates at either end, describe the specific traits you carry. Your Profile, written as two numbers, is the role you tend to play with other people.
Three things: your birth date, your birth time, and your birth place. Date and place are usually quick to supply. Birth time is the one people stall on, and it is also the one that most affects precision — Human Design places the planets to the minute, so a chart built on a rough guess can differ from one built on a recorded time.
A birth certificate is the most reliable source. In many countries the time appears only on the long-form certificate rather than the short one, so it is worth requesting the long form before concluding it was never recorded. Hospital records and baby books are the usual fallbacks. If none of them turn it up, you can still generate a chart — the next answer covers what changes.
You can still get your chart. Tick “I don't know my birth time” on the birth details form and Pillar uses 12:00 noon, the standard convention for an unknown time. Nothing blocks you, and you are not asked to guess.
What stays reliable: your Type, your Strategy and your Authority. Those are set by the slower-moving planetary positions, which do not shift enough across a single day to change them. What becomes provisional: your Profile, and the gates and channels driven by the fastest-moving bodies — the Moon in particular travels far enough in a day to land somewhere else entirely. Treat those parts as a working draft. If the time turns up later, update your birth details and your chart is recalculated from the new one.
The chart is free and stays free. No card is involved in generating it. Free gives you the whole bodygraph: your Type, Strategy and Authority, all nine centers, every channel and gate, and your Profile.
Ubuntu Design, $44 once, adds a personalized reading of that chart of more than 3,000 words, your full Gene Keys profile across all three sequences, and unlimited access to the Ubuntu Guide, which answers questions about your specific chart. It is a one-time purchase with lifetime access, not a subscription.
Ubuntu Design Living, $11.99 a month or $119 a year, is separate again. It adds Daily Alignment, Ubuntu Maps, and My Village, where you add the people close to you and see how your designs meet. Those three belong to the subscription, not to the $44 reading.
The mechanics are not different, and no one should tell you otherwise. The planetary calculations behind a bodygraph are the same everywhere, and a chart from Pillar will agree with a chart from anywhere else built on the same birth data. What differs is what gets said about it.
Most Human Design readings stop at the individual — your type, your strategy, your decisions, your potential. Pillar holds Human Design alongside Ubuntu, the original Way, which begins from the position that a person is a person through other people. Read that way, your chart describes what you carry for the people around you as much as what you are on your own, and your open centers stop reading as deficits and start reading as where the village comes in.
Your birth date, time and place are used to calculate your chart and are stored with your account so it can be rebuilt and so you can correct it later. Pillar treats birth data with extra care, keeps it encrypted, and never sells it to third parties. You can update it from your profile, and you can request deletion of your personal data.
It is reasonable to hesitate before typing your birth details into a website. Birth data identifies one specific moment and place, which makes it more revealing than an ordinary sign-up form — worth checking what any site does with it, this one included. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
